Mill Valley, CA

This will be the second time we’ve done this ride and that’s because the first time was so fun. We roll From the Depot at 10am to the end of Blithedale Ave to the Railroad Grade trailhead. We follow Railroad all the way up to the West Point Inn. At this point it’s a long downhill to the coast and a good climb after that so if you’re not feeling fantastic here we would recommend either finishing Railroad to the top for some great views and heading back down to town, or just turning around and heading down here.

We start down on Old Stage and pass through the Pan Toll ranger station parking lot to Coastal Trail. From here it’s all down to Highway 1 where we cross the road to the Pelican Inn for beers and snacks. Be careful here because you still have some good climbing ahead so don’t over-imbibe. After the beers, we cross back over HWY 1 and up the Dias Ridge trail. Kinda steep with switchbacks then it straightens out a bit. Toward the end Miwok trail merges with Dias from your left. A little further on the trail splits*. Stay left on Dias until you reach the pavement at Panoramic Hwy. Go left uphill to the next intersection and go right on Sequoia Valley Rd. Stay straight as Sequoia turns to Edgewood/turns to Molina. At the end of Molina turn left on Montford and you’ll hit the main drag, Miller Ave. Here you will find the 2 A.M. club where we can have some beers if desired. Left on Miller takes you back downtown to The Depot.

* At this spot fast folk might want to go right for a Headlands extension. You people can hook up with the ride guides here for direction. Better to stay with a group for this part than rely on these shoddy directions. Ask around at the Pelican to see who’s planning on this section and stay with them.
